Honda
Exact trim, the V6 records and the lease rule
A Honda is priced on its exact trim and powertrain: a hybrid Sport Touring CR-V, a turbo EX-L or a V6 Pilot with its timing belt done. We confirm those from your VIN and answers. On a lease, Honda’s rule means you buy out first, and we tell you that before you start.
The models we buy most.
CR-V
2017-2022 (5th gen), 2023- (6th gen)
Compact SUV, hybrid available
On a 6th gen, the Sport and Sport Touring hybrids sit above the turbo EX and EX-L. On either generation, AWD and the top trim count, and so do service records on the 1.5-liter turbo.
Civic
2016-2021 (10th gen), 2022- (11th gen)
Compact sedan and hatchback
Si and Type R are priced on their own. For the rest, the 1.5-liter turbo trims and the 2.0-liter base trims are priced apart, and the hatchback and sedan too.
Accord
2018-2022 (10th gen), 2023- (11th gen)
Midsize sedan, hybrid available
On an 11th gen, the hybrid Sport, EX-L, Sport-L and Touring sit above the turbo LX and EX. On a 10th gen, the 2.0-liter turbo is priced above the 1.5.
Pilot
2016-2022 (3rd gen), 2023- (4th gen)
Three-row SUV
TrailSport and Elite sit at the top. On a 3rd gen, proof of the timing belt service counts, and 2016 and 2018-2019 models were in a 2023 engine recall.
HR-V
Through 2022, 2023- (redesigned)
Subcompact SUV
Generation comes first, since the 2023 HR-V is a new design. Then AWD and the EX-L trim.
Odyssey
2018- (5th gen)
Minivan
Touring and Elite trims and rear entertainment are priced apart. On high-mile vans, the V6 timing belt receipt matters, and 2018-2019 models were in the 2023 engine recall.
Passport
2019-2025, 2026- (redesigned, AWD standard)
Two-row midsize SUV
On the 2026 redesign, TrailSport and TrailSport Elite sit above the RTL. On earlier cars, AWD and the top trims count.
Ridgeline
2017- (2nd gen)
Midsize pickup
Trim, bed condition and towing use matter, so photograph the bed and hitch. 2017 and 2019 trucks fall in the 2023 V6 engine recall, so bring the dealer check.
Civic Type R
2017-2021 (1st US gen), 2023- (2nd gen)
Performance hatchback, manual only
A stock car with original parts, low miles and any track use disclosed up front is priced highest. Records follow.
Prologue
2024- (1st gen)
Electric SUV
Full-charge range, AWD versus front-drive and the EX, EX-L or Elite trim are checked. A range screenshot at a full charge settles the first.
What moves the price.
V6 timing belt
The 3.5-liter V6 in the Pilot, Odyssey, Passport and Ridgeline uses a timing belt that is replaced on a schedule. Proof it was done supports the offer.
Trim and powertrain
Hybrid, turbo and base engines are priced apart on the same model. We match yours to the VIN before the offer, so the right version is priced.
Stock Si and Type R
An unmodified Si or Type R with records is priced above a modified one. Aftermarket parts are priced as fitted, and factory parts you kept help.
Engine recall check
Certain 2016-2019 Pilot, Odyssey and Ridgeline models were recalled in 2023 for connecting rod bearing wear. A dealer inspection record helps.
All-wheel drive
Real Time AWD on a CR-V or HR-V and i-VTM4 on a Pilot, Passport or Ridgeline are priced in, so confirm the drive type in your answers.
Leased Honda: buy out first
Honda Financial Services (American Honda Finance Corporation)
Honda Financial Services, part of American Honda Finance, lets only the lessee or a Honda dealer buy a leased Honda, a rule reported effective July 14, 2021. So you buy the car out first, then sell it to us. If a Honda dealer bids on it, you can compare both numbers. We confirm on your contract.

Paperwork and records.
Purchase price from Honda Financial Services
Get your lease purchase price from your HFS account before you buy out. Once the buyout is done, the car is yours to sell.
Loan payoff quote
For a Honda loan, a payoff quote from Honda Financial Services with your account number. We pay it from the sale.
Maintenance Minder history
Photos of service receipts or a dealer printout of Maintenance Minder services, including the V6 timing belt. Dates and mileage on each line help most.
Keys and factory parts
Every key and fob, and on an Si or Type R, any original parts you swapped out.
On a V6 Honda, keep the timing belt and water pump receipt. On a 2016-2019 Pilot, Odyssey or Ridgeline, add proof of the 2023 engine recall inspection; the VIN lookup at nhtsa.gov/recalls shows whether it is open.

Do I need my maintenance records?
