Packages, M models and a buyout first
A BMW price changes with the packages, the engine and whether the car is a full M model or M Sport. Our VIN check and your photos confirm those. Leases with BMW Financial Services need a buyout first, and we say so before you start.
The models we buy most.
X5
2014-2018 (F15), 2019-2026 (G05); a redesigned 2027 X5 was revealed in June 2026
Midsize SUV, plug-in hybrid available
The six-cylinder, plug-in hybrid, V8 and X5 M versions are priced apart, then the M Sport and Premium packages. A third row, where fitted, counts.
X3
2018-2024 (G01), 2025- (G45)
Compact SUV
The six-cylinder M40i or M50 and the X3 M sit above the four-cylinder 30i. Packages follow, then the plug-in hybrid on G01 cars.
3 Series
2012-2018 (F30), 2019- (G20)
Compact sedan
The 330i, the plug-in 330e and the six-cylinder M340i are priced apart. xDrive and the M Sport package count, while the M3 is priced on its own.
5 Series
2017-2023 (G30), 2024- (G60, with the electric i5)
Midsize sedan
On a G60, gas, plug-in and the electric i5 are priced apart. On a G30, the 540i and V8 M550i sit above the 530i.
X7
2019- (1st gen)
Full-size three-row SUV
The V8 versions and the Alpina XB7 sit above the six-cylinder xDrive40i, and second-row captain’s chairs count.
X1
2016-2022 (F48), 2023- (U11)
Subcompact SUV
The F48 and U11 are different cars, so we start with the generation. On a U11, the M35i, added for 2024, sits above the xDrive28i.
4 Series
2014-2020 (F32), 2021- (G22)
Coupe, convertible and Gran Coupe
Body style and the six-cylinder M440i against the 430i lead. The Gran Coupe joined the new generation a year after the coupe.
M3
2015-2018 (F80), 2021- (G80)
High-performance sedan
Competition versus base, the manual, carbon ceramic brakes and carbon bucket seats are all priced in.
i4
2022- (1st gen)
Electric Gran Coupe
eDrive35, eDrive40, xDrive40 and the M versions differ in range and power, and full-charge range is checked.
iX
2022- (1st gen)
Electric SUV
The version, full-charge range and the Sport and Technology packages lead. A range screenshot and any charging warnings help.
What moves the price.
M, M Performance or M Sport
A full M car, an M Performance model like the M340i or X5 M60i, and the M Sport package on a standard car are priced very differently. The VIN tells them apart.
Packages
Driving Assistance Professional, Premium and Executive packages change the number. The window sticker lists them, and the VIN confirms most of them.
Service after Ultimate Care
New BMWs from model year 2017 include scheduled maintenance for 3 years or 36,000 miles. Records of service after that support the price.
Stock or tuned
A stock BMW with records is easier to price well. Disclose any tune, exhaust or coding up front, and say whether the stock software can be restored.
Warranty left
BMW’s new-vehicle warranty runs 4 years or 50,000 miles, and the time left on it counts. A BMW Certified warranty, if the car has one, is noted too.
Leased BMW: buy out first
BMW Financial Services
BMW Financial Services lets only the lessee or a BMW center buy a leased BMW. A 2024 payoff notice quoted by a lessee says it returns payoffs sent by third-party dealers. So you buy out first, then sell to us, and sales tax on the buyout may apply in your state. We confirm on your contract.

Paperwork and records.
Buyout quote from BMW Financial Services
Ask BMW FS for your lessee purchase price. Once the car is yours, we pay you, or the loan that funded your buyout, at pickup.
Loan account number
For a BMW FS loan, your account number is enough for us to request the payoff, which we pay directly. The rest of the sale is paid to you.
Window sticker or build list
It shows the packages and options. Without it, photos of the badges, wheels and interior let us match the VIN.
Tune and coding list
If the car has a tune, aftermarket exhaust or coding, list it with the shop’s name. Keep any original parts that came off.
Keep invoices for oil services after Ultimate Care ended and for any cooling or oil leak repairs. On an M car, brake and tire receipts help too. An open recall on your BMW shows by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
